ESTATE PLANNING
Will there be probate on my assets if I predecease my spouse?
If your
assets are owned jointly, ownership will revert to the surviving spouse.
RRSPs, jointly owned investment portfolios and capital assets will
transfer to the surviving spouse without probate.
Typically, only assets that pass through the estate will be subject to
probate. It is recommended to review this subject with your lawyer
to properly structure the transfer of assets.
